Today, Betu went to meet his doctor “grandpa”. What can I even say about him… words will fall short.
From the day I found out I was pregnant, not for a single moment did I worry about my body — simply because this man never let me. My pregnancy journey wasn’t very smooth or easy from the beginning. I truly realized that becoming a mother is not something simple. But even though there was physical discomfort, I never felt mental stress. Do you know why?
Because the person you see in this picture — whenever there was any problem, one phone call was enough to make everything feel okay. How?
With just these words: “Everything is fine, don’t worry.”
That reassurance gave me so much courage. Even at 1:17 in the night, he would answer calls and guide me with medicines — I think only he can do that.
Throughout my pregnancy, I kept telling Bob Adhikary — even if you’re not in the delivery room, no problem. If I see Sir, I’ll be okay.
The morning my Betu was born is something I will never forget. Crying, I called him and said, “Sir, my water has broken — it’s only 33 weeks and 5 days, what will happen?!”
And from the other side of the phone, the same calm reply came: “Nothing will happen. Come to Neotia, I’m coming.”
Just those words gave me the strength to endure labour pain.
And my OT (operation) went by with a smile — but that’s a story for another day.
In the end, I’ll just say this — I haven’t seen God, but I have seen Dr. Dibyendu Banerjee.
Many doctors may practice medicine, but not everyone can give this kind of positivity.
Stay well, Sir. Mothers truly need people like you.
